Breaking Down The Talent Code

Deep Practice is not simply about struggling, it's about seeking out a particular struggle, which involves a cycle of distinct actions.

Excerpts from Daniel Coyle’s book The Talent Code:

Deep practice is not simply about struggling, it’s about seeking out a particular struggle, which involves a cycle of distinct actions:

1. Pick a target

2. Reach for it

3. Evaluate the gap between the target and the reach

4. Return to step one

Within deep practice, one must set a goal that is just out of reach, or what is referenced by Coyle as the SWEET SPOT: that productive, uncomfortable terrain located just beyond our current abilities where our reach exceeds our grasp.

Set your outcome goal, then create the little steps that will get you to that outcome, and deeply practice and focus on each step till you accomplish your goal.
